Excellence in Education in the Comox Valley! Our graduates attend the best universities!
It takes 5-7 years to learn a second language (English) and experience the most success at University and College. As a result, its best to start your learning immersed in high school for at least 2-3 years. While you learn the language you are making sure you have the pre-requisites for entering the college or university of your choice. The great thing is that our beautiful community has a local college campus North Island College that offers seamless transition from High School. You could choose to earn university transfer credits with NIC and take these credits with you to two well known Universities the University of Victoria and Royal Roads University (see below).
University Pathways!
Why start with college?
If your English language is not developed enough to read university level textbooks, to understand rapidly moving lectures by your professors or to write research papers at the required level, then a college is an excellent starting point for you. In British Columbia, all students may study for up to two years in a college then transfer their credits to the university of their choice. Colleges offer very small class sizes and as a result you will receive lots of one to one support from your instructors. The cost at college is also lower than at universities.
Direct entrance to our best universities!
If your English language skill-set at high school graduation is already at the highest level then you stand a good chance of being accepted directly into a university. Our graduates attend the best universities in British Columbia, across Canada and in the United States of America.
