Our Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism
Currently offered through Highland Secondary School and it is one of only five schools in BC (thirty across Canada) offering this nationally recognized Program! Successful Graduates from the Academy are in demand, with employers across the country, and with post-secondary institutions. Qualified Graduates are eligible to bypass Waiting Lists and go directly into the Tourism Program courses at the BC College of their choice. Students enrolled in the Academy can complete one, or all, of the following industry authorized Certificate programs:
- FoodSafe Level 1
- FoodSafe Level 2
- SuperHost
- SuperHost Japan
- Food & Beverage Server (national standards)
- Front Desk Agent (national standards)
- Heritage Interpreter (national standards)
- Local Tour Guide (national standards)
- Travel Counselor (national standards)
- St. Johns Ambulance First Aid
- Serving It Right
- SQUIRREL
- Inn Control
International students who are seriously interested in a career in Tourism and wish to participate in this program need to enroll for their grade 11 and/or 12 school year. The Tourism Academy provides students with instruction both at the Secondary school and the local college with all course work taking place during regular school hours. You are responsible for the additional cost of each college course – current cost is $250 per course. Depending on your degree of interest and career aspirations you will take from two to eight college courses while in this program.
