HOW TO APPLY

Comox Valley School District International Student Program (CVISP) accepts school year, summer camp and Canadian Outbound Exchange Program applications on a secure online application system. All applications must be submitted online. Incomplete applications cannot be submitted so ensure you review and have all the required documents ready before you begin your application for the regular school year, summer camp or outbound exchange.

Elementary School (Kindergarten-grade 7) registration is closed for the entire 2017-18 school year.

SCHOOL YEAR

In order to submit a short term or long term school year application, the four (4) documents listed are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process. Online applications need to be submitted within thirty (30) days of creation.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

1. Transcripts or Report Card (not required for summer camp students)

Provide a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English. Your transcript/report card must be a PDF or JPEG file, and less than 5MB. You will only be able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of your transcript/report card are scanned as a single document.

2. Course Request Form (not required for summer camp students)

We need to know more about the applicant and what he/she would like to student in the Comox Valley School District International Student Program. You will be prompted to download the Course Request Form during the application process through the secure online application system. Scan the Course Request Form once complete and upload it as a sing PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

3. Student Agreement

The parent(s) and applicant must sign our International Student Agreement. You will be prompted to download the International Student Agreement during the application process through the secure online application system. Have it signed in ink, and scanned as a single PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

4. Activity Waiver

The Parent(s) must sign our Activity Waiver. You will be prompted to download the Activty Waiver during the application process through the secure online application system. Have it signed in ink and scanned as a single PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

5. Passport Picture Page (colour copy)

Provide a PDF or JPEG file that is less than 5MB of your passport picture page. Ensure that it is a colour copy.

Recommended Documents

We recommend that you collect the following documents prior to applying. These documents assist us in making an admission decision should we require additional information. They must be submitted as single documents in PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each.

1. Recommendation Letter

Have a teacher, school counselour, or Principal write a letter of recommendation for the applicant. The recommendation letter should be on school letterhead, identify the student and his/her positive attributes and be signed by the writer. The recommendation letter should be a maximum of one (1) page, be a PDF or JPEG that is 5MB or less.

2. Immunization Record

Scan as a single document all immunization records (on one page) relevant to the students medical history.

3. Student Letter of Intent

Tell us why you want to study in the Canada and the Comox Valley School District International Student Program. Introduce yourself to your homestay family and include your hobbies and future goals. This letter should be written by the applicant and in the applicants own words. Again, your letter of intent must be a PDF or JPEG file, and less than 5 MB.

4. Photo Album

Some students compile a photo album to assist in the homestay placement process. Please scan the entire album as one document and ensure it is 5MB or less.

5. Other Documents

If you have another document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, please submit it as a single document.

SUMMER CAMP

A passport picture page copy, activity waiver, and student agreement are required to apply. Upload these three (3) documents in the online application. Remember to chose the summer camp application when prompted. Online applications need to be submitted within thirty (30) days of creation.

OUTBOUND EXCHANGE

The following documents are required to complete the outbound Canadian student one for one exchange online application form. Select the Outbound Canadian Student Exchange Application when you create your online application. Incomplete applications will be deleted after thirty (30) days.

  2. letter of reference from a community member
  3. colour copy of your passport
  4. Letter of Intent explaining why you wish to study abroad and what your long term goals are
  5. Outbound Student Agreement download agreement, sign it and then upload in the online application
