APPLICATION PROCESS

Comox Valley School District International Student Program (CVISP) accepts all applications on a secure online application system. All applications must be submitted online. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed. Are you a certified agent partner of the CVISP? If so, contact isponline@sd71.bc.ca for instructions on creating an online agent application account.

Registration for September 5, 2017 is now closed. The next available start date for the 2017-18 school year is January 29, 2018. Grade 9 is completely full for the 2017-18 school year. 

Elementary School (K-grade 7) is closed for the entire 2017-18 school year.

Registration for the August Academic Experience Summer Program and July English Experience Program are now closed.

Before you Begin

Please make sure you have collected all the necessary information and documents. You will need the applicant’s complete information and at least one parent’s complete information. This includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc. Required and recommended documents (see below) must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each. If any document is larger than 5MB, it must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.

The application fee is $350 CAD and is nonrefundable. Please have a major credit card ready for the final page of the online application system (does not apply to approved agent partners).

Required Documents

In order to submit an application, the four (4) documents listed are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process. Online applications need to be submitted within thirty (30) days of creation.

1. Transcripts or Report Card (not required for summer camp students)

Provide a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English. Your transcript/report card must be a PDF or JPEG file, and less than 5MB. You will only be able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of your transcript/report card are scanned as a single document.

2. Course Request Form (not required for summer camp students)

We need to know more about the applicant and what he/she would like to student in the Comox Valley School District International Student Program. You will be prompted to download the Course Request Form during the application process through the secure online application system. Scan the Course Request Form once complete and upload it as a sing PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

3. Student Agreement

The parent(s) and applicant must sign our International Student Agreement. You will be prompted to download the International Student Agreement during the application process through the secure online application system. Have it signed in ink, and scanned as a single PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

4. Activity Waiver

The Parent(s) must sign our Activity Waiver. You will be prompted to download the Activty Waiver during the application process through the secure online application system. Have it signed in ink and scanned as a single PDF or JPEG file that is 5MB or smaller.

5. Passport Picture Page (colour copy)

Provide a PDF or JPEG file that is less than 5MB of your passport picture page. Ensure that it is a colour copy.

Recommended Documents

We recommend that you collect the following documents prior to applying. These documents assist us in making an admission decision should we require additional information. They must be submitted as single documents in PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each.

1. Recommendation Letter

Have a teacher, school counselour, or Principal write a letter of recommendation for the applicant. The recommendation letter should be on school letterhead, identify the student and his/her positive attributes and be signed by the writer. The recommendation letter should be a maximum of one (1) page, be a PDF or JPEG that is 5MB or less.

2. Immunization Record

Scan as a single document all immunization records (on one page) relevant to the students medical history.

3. Student Letter of Intent

Tell us why you want to study in the Canada and the Comox Valley School District International Student Program. Introduce yourself to your homestay family and include your hobbies and future goals. This letter should be written by the applicant and in the applicants own words. Again, your letter of intent must be a PDF or JPEG file, and less than 5 MB.

4. Photo Album

Some students compile a photo album to assist in the homestay placement process. Please scan the entire album as one document and ensure it is 5MB or less.

5. Other Documents

If you have another document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, please submit it as a single document.
